The Louisiana Solar Energy Society spread the news about solar energy at three Earth Day events. (Pictures Coming Soon)
State Coordinator Lindsay Gallmann and active members Jim Landry and Billy Chism staffed the LSES table at The Louisiana Earth Day Celebration in downtown Baton Rouge on April 18th. The five hours flew by fast with solar enthusiasts hovering over the table to learn more about how LSES is helping the solar industry. And some even donated to the organization. With four other booths promoting solar installation companies, most homeowners circling the tables started feeling the tug to go solar. And the LSES volunteers were glad to answer questions on where to start!
Whole Foods in Baton Rouge hosted the LSES booth at its annual Earth Day celebration April 22. The grocery shoppers were surprised to see miniature solar panels resting on a table full of solar magazines. But Gallmann and LSES president Jeff Shaw met as many solar-interested citizens at Whole Foods as they did at Earth Day. Most people asked about the total tax credits for installing solar. ”80 percent?!” Exclaimed one passerby. Gallmann and Shaw were glad to conclude the day with a new list of LSES friends to contact about solar happenings.
LSU celebrated its fifth annual Earth Day Celebration April 27 in the wide open parade grounds of campus. The winds blew through the surrounding Oak trees while students and faculty gathered around the semi-circle of tables promoting Eco-friendly, solar, and humanitarian organizations. The LSES met more young people with a vision for solar in their futures. Gallmann and Shaw enjoyed meeting fellow solar-interested people while KLSU radio station was broadcast using Shaw’s solar trailer.
